Care Auto Auction recognizes the importance of your privacy.  This Privacy Policy applies to all services and sites offered and maintained by Care Auto Auction Inc.  In addition, when more detailed information is needed to explain our privacy practices, we will post a separate privacy statement to describe how particular services process your personal information.

Care Auto Auction adheres to the US Safe Harbor Framework.  These standards ensure reliability on principles of Notice, Choice, Onward Transfer, Security, Data Integrity, and Access and Enforcement.

Personal Data Collection and Usage

Care Auto Auction offers a number of services that do not require you to register for an account or provide any personal information to us, such as visiting careautoauction.com.  In order to better provide a full range of services, we may collect the following information.

            Information You Provide – When you sign up for any Care Auto Auction service or promotion that requires registration, we ask you for personal information (including your name, email address, and an account password).  For certain services, such as our Featured Cars service, we also request credit card or other payment account information which we maintain in encrypted form on a secure server.  We may combine the information you submit with information from other Care Auto Auction services or third parties in order to provide you with better service.

            Cookies – When you visit Care Auto Auction, we send cookies, or small files, to your computer that uniquely identify your browser.  We use cookies to improve the quality of our site by storing your preferences and tracking trends.  Most browsers are set up by default to accept cookies.  You can set your browser to refuse all cookies or to warn you when cookies are being sent.  Some features of this site may not function properly if cookies are disabled.

            Log Information – When you use a Care Auto Auction service, our server automatically records information that your browser sends each time you visit the site.  These logs may include your IP (Internet Protocol) Address, Browser Type, Language, Date, Time, and other cookies that may uniquely identify your browser.

            End User Communication – When you send email or other communications to Care Auto Auction, we may retain those communications in order to process and respond to your request, as well as to improve our customer service.

            Links – Care Auto Auction presents links in a format that allows users to identify and separate links that have been followed from links that have not.  We use this information to improve the overall quality of our site.

            Other Sites – This Privacy Policy applies only to sites and services owned by Care Auto Auction, Inc.  We do not exercise control over any other sites.  Any other site may attempt to solicit personal information from you.  It is your responsibility to ensure that you agree with the privacy policies and practices of these sites.

            Information Sharing – Care Auto Auction only shares personal information with other companies or individuals outside of Care Auto Auctions when the following circumstances exist:

1.      Care Auto Auction has received your consent.  We require opt-in consent whenever we share your information with any third party.

2.      We only provide your personal information to businesses or persons for the purpose of processing information on our behalf.  We require any third party who receives your personal information to maintain a privacy policy that is in accordance with ours, or to process your information based on our instruction.

3.      Care Auto Auction may access and/or disclose your personal information if we believe such action is necessary to: (a) comply with the law or legal process served on Care Auto Auction; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Care Auto Auction (including enforcement of our agreements); or (c) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of Care Auto Auctions services or members of the public.

Information Security – We implement stringent techniques to protect against any unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your personal data.  These techniques include internal reviews of your personal data, storage and processing, and security measures as well as physical site security to guard against unauthorized access to systems that contain your personal data.

We restrict access of your personal information to Care Auto Auction employees, contracted companies, and agents who need to know the information in order to operate or improve our services.  These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to comply with these obligations.

Accessing Your Private Data – If you have used a service from Care Auto Auction, we will make a good faith attempt to provide you with access to any personal information for the purposes of correction of the data in the case of an error or deletion of the data at your request if it is not otherwise required to be retained by law or for legitimate business purposes.  We ask individual users to identify themselves and the information requested to be accessed, corrected or removed before processing such requests, and we may decline to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive or systematic, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardize the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical (for instance, requests concerning information residing on backup media), or for which access is not otherwise required. In any case where we provide information access and correction, we perform this service free of charge, except if doing so would require a disproportionate effort. Some of our services have different procedures to access, correct or delete users' personal information.

Compliance – Care Auto Auction reviews its compliance with this policy.  Please direct any questions or concerns you may have regarding this policy or Care Auto Auctions treatment of your personal data to privacy@careautoauction.com or through writing to Privacy, c/o Care Auto Auction Inc., P.O. Box 218, Gas City, IN 46933-0218.  Upon receipt of formal written complaints at this address, it is Care Auto Auctions policy to contact the complaining party regarding their concerns.  We will cooperate with the appropriate regulatory authorities to resolve any complaints regarding transfer of personal data if a resolution cannot be reached between Care Auto Auction Inc. and any party.

Changes To This Policy – Care Auto Auction Inc reserves the right to change this policy at any time.  We will not reduce or refuse your rights under this policy without your explicit consent.  We will post any changes to our Privacy Policy on this page, and in the case of significant changes we will provide a more prominent notice through email if we believe you will be affected by a change.  Each version of our Privacy Policy is indicated by the date at the top of this document and will keep all previous versions of this policy for your review upon request.
